The first piece I worked on was Comme Toujours Here I Stand for which the entire 

production won ‘Bessie’ awards. In this production, Ryutaro Mishima, one of the performers rolled two lights around the stage to light each scene. Color and shadow played big parts in the filmic design. Specificity was fetishized and this show got very tight over three years of touring and re-mounts.  

Subsequent collaborations with BDT have involved everything from pumpkins to Greek drama to the children’s tale Heidi. It is always a wild ride with this company.
