I met John at ADF immediately upon graduating college. He asked myself and Joey Benjamin to go on tour with him that fall and we became his touring staff for quite a while. We started on John's masterwork Giant Empty, and I learned a ton from Stan Pressner’s lighting for that piece through tours. John's work travelled broadly in that decade, we were all over Europe and even did a Chilean tour with just two dancers.
